Statement of Philosophy
Dave Mann, a prize-winning photographer for over 50 years, believes that photography is an artform capable of enriching the memory of all manner of events, including but not limited to the historical. As such, Dave provides services intended to preserve existing images, especially irreplaceable images from days long gone. In addition, he provides original photography that links to significant undertakings, such as visual documentation of historic structures and their components; this becomes especially critical when the unthinkable occurs … something of value is being lost.

Thoughtful photography can provide a rich archival record of the existence of things past.

In addition to using photography to enrich our history, Dave does unusual photography of living persons. His multi-part series, “Children at Play,” has won top honors. Some images from that collection and his other portrait photography are included in the Portfolio of Images. (Under Construction)

The major purpose of this website is to be an unashamed advocate of Historic Preservation. If we in the United States are diligent about that which is worth saving, our descendants will find powerful and evocative links to heritage. Conversely, failing to be attentive, our society will have lost a great deal. As stewards of heritage, it is our job in the here-and-now to demand that our representatives act not only in support of commercial interests and short-term concerns, but also we must require equal footing for the interests of future generations.
